TV and FM Radio wall socket

Please can someone help?

I want to connect an Omni-directional FM aerial I have just bought and installed in my loft to my tuner. I have looked at back of the TV/FM socket in my lounge and it has some electronic components on each socket but only a single coax cable leading to my loft. Can I use this single coax cable for both the TV and Radio aerials or would it be better to run a separate cable for both aerials?

Yep that's fine it sounds as though it has a Multiplexer/Diplexer in it to run multiple signals over 1 length of Coax, should work fine!

Wow Zeph, thanks for you speedy reply.

So all I need to do is use a Y connector on the end in my loft and connect both my TV and FM aerials to this, no need for any electronics at that end?

Actually what you may find in the socket in your living room might be a passive filter rather than a diplexer otherwise there would have to be electronics at the top I beleive, can't hurt to try it though!

Re: TV and FM Radio wall socket

Thanks again Zeph, I'll try the Y connector first.

Cheers, Baz
