Sky HD HDMI to DVI Sound Help Required
Hi there, i wonder if anyone can help me out please...I have got a picture from my Sky Hd box but no sound..I am using a HDMI to DVI lead from the box to the T.V as the T.V never had a HDMI socket and i have also got a 2 phono stereo lead going in the 'Audio in and out' on tv and box as well, but i am getting no sound at all. Is there something silly i am not doing to make the sound come on.
If i have a scart from T.V to Hd box the sound works fine on av1, but when i switch to 'dvi' channel for my Hd picture i hear nothing...please help advice me if you can, its driving me mad...Thanks in advance.

Re: Sky HD HDMI to DVI Sound Help Required
Hi gary and to the forum.
I have Virgin but I am assuming that the HDMI/DVI set up is the same.
Check where you have plugged the Audio leads on your TV as you may find that there are dedicated audio sockets right next to the DVI socket as opposed to the more obvious audio in/out sockets elsewhere on the back of your TV.

Re: Sky HD HDMI to DVI Sound Help Required
Thanks for the welcome and reply..I have just looked and there is only one smaller sized socket that says 'p.c sound' next to the 'dvi' plug in. Other than that, there is nothing. I really cant work it out at all. Strange.

Re: Sky HD HDMI to DVI Sound Help Required
DVI is a video output only, you will need a seperate audio output

the DVI is the input on his TV, presumably for also connecting a PC, the problem he is having is that the twin phono jacks for stereo input on the TV weren't working with the 'DVI' setting on the TV - the suggestion is that the 'PC sound' jack next to the DVI connector on the TV is expecting a 3.5mm mini jack for the sound input on this setting - hence the use of the phono to minijack converter.
