Sony Bravia 26" in Sainsbury's 500 quid
Spotted this in Sainsbury's 2day :
Kdl 26u2000 £499 apparently £300 off (other online stores doing it at around the 570 - 600 mark)
So for me potentially £499 - 10% staff discount (maybe) = £450 not bad for a box to stick in the bedroom.
Anyone know if it's any good and good enough for the technically savvy amongst us.
Cheers

I think that's very good value. Has freeview built in and is HD-ready - sounds good to me.

I think so, it's been a long time since I did this stuff.
AFAIR, the UK TV standard is 25 frames per second interlaced = 50 hz?

So I take it HDTV is just a change in scan lines to 780 / 1080 or whatever it is.
Is HDTV scanned (at 50Hz) the same rate then ? Whatever happened to 100Hz TVs ?
Soz for being a TV n00b I don't watch TV much (not at all to be precise)
I sit in aww and astonishment when I hear ppl and my family talking about fictional characters from TV in normal daily conversation as if they were close family members !

Yes, worrying isn't
I keep telling them "ITS ONLY A STORY, THEY'RE NOT REAL !!!!" but they seem oblivious

Yes but TV is a more sociable pursuit than say, reading.
When did a whole bunch of friends and family last sit down to read a novel together?
(Don't get me wrong I read a lot!)

Yes. Maybe wait until after Xmas, see if they drop the price further.

LCD is slightly different as an lcd pixel is not transient like a CRT pixel. It stays in state until it is changed to the next state. A CRT one has to be refreshed or the glow just fades.
