Re: Zune Hacked!
I never understand why companies put so much effort into restricting their products, then get all worked up when someone inevitably finds a way around it. Guess the one in recent times is region coding and RCE. Wasn't out 5min before people found a way around it. Same with Apple's Ipods

DRM is not the companys but demands from the Music Industry.

Re: Zune Hacked!
DRM to me just encourages piracy. If you buy a legit version of a mp3, you're limited by what you can do with it. Alternative is to download from one of the various sites for free and have the freedom to do with the track as you see fit. As far as I can see DRM does more harm to the industry than to abandon it.
The same is also true for the 'grey imports' of consoles such as PSP, PS3. So long as Sony get their money, why should it matter where the consoles end up. To me, all these things are designed to screw more money out of consumers. If they treated us more fairly, these companies would probably find we are willing to spend more money on their products.

Re: Zune Hacked!
I totally agree with the points about DRM, it does more harm than good, for example (with MSN Music) if you format your pc (but you still have file), you have to get another licence and they limit you to around 5 activations.
So in the end you lose the song you PAYED for.
Another thing which annoys me about DRM is that you cannot use it on alot of eqiptment, for example with Mobile Phones, I still HAVE to make a copy of the song so I can put it on my phone to listen to while studying!

Re: Zune Hacked!
I would also be more willing to pay for music online if they didn't have DRM.
