dvd record speed?
probably a very silly question but does it matter what speed rating discs i buy for my dvd recorder?
I was thinking of getting some more rewritable dvds ive used sony 1 - 4 x dvd + RW's with it fine
However unless they got them on offer in town again they are a tad expensive so i was just going to order some off the internet or buy some cheaper ones and was wondering if dvd-recorders care about the speed rating of the discs.
dvd recorder is a liteon dd-a110 Dvd +/- recorder.

Re: dvd record speed?
Whats the rated speed of the device? you need to know cuz faster discs might not burn slow enough efficiently

Re: dvd record speed?
Since it's a standalone model I would think it's recording speed is 1x?

Re: dvd record speed?
Is it one of these?
Yes I know it's another manufacturer - but it's the closest model number I could find, so might be a re-branded version?

Re: dvd record speed?
Nero will tell you the max speed of your drive. If you haven't got Nero, download the demo and run the NeroInfo tool.

Errr - we've not got to the bottom of it yet, but it might be a standalone / hi-fi type DVD recorder!

Re: dvd record speed?
I have an older Lite-on recorder.
This records on 4X DVD+RW disks with no problems, so I would think this newer one would happily use 4x disks.
Can't find the A110 on Lite-on's site, but the A100 is here - no mention of speeds!

Re: dvd record speed?
all you got to watch for is newer faster writable dvds will have a minimum speed higher than 1x just make sure the dvd you buy burns slow enough
