Do you have a spaghetti problem
It is well known that, however big your pan, the spaghetti is always too long to fit in without pushing and shoving which risks your hand ending up immersed in boiling water. So, you try to break the lengths in two and they always end up in three or more. Here is why.

Use fresh spaghetti - the problem goes away.

Re: Do you have a spaghetti problem
When I make it, I do it in the bottom of a pressure cooker, boil the water and dunk one end of the spaghetti in and it eventually makes its way into the water as it absorbs the water and goes soft. What I cant understand is why they stopped making full length dried spaghetti

I still buy long dried spaghetti (was given a beautiful glass long spaghetti holder for a wedding present) in Tesco & Waitrose but they don't always have it in stock.

Re: Do you have a spaghetti problem
But if the spaghetti is long surely one end is a tad overcooked relative to the other end since it can take a while for it to sink into that boiling water.

Re: Do you have a spaghetti problem
What the hell is the mystery? You stick one end in and as it softens you just shove all the way in then dunk the oher end with yer special spaghetti spoon. It curls round in the pot. Then it's a race to stop it cooking all in one huge clump and sticking together.Done by using your spaghetti spoon's hooks to separate each strand out. Just needs a bit of patience.

That stuff is expensive compared to the dried.

Re: Do you have a spaghetti problem
I just love spaghetti dried or fresh I don't care. Little tip when cooking it, put a pat of butter in the boiling water (was going to say knob but stopped myself), this helps keep it separated.

Also helps if you use a wide enough saucepan
