Speaker Cable
Can anyone recommend good quietly THIN speaker cable. I know the thicker the better. On my surround sound system, when you have half a dozen thick cables for the speakers its looking very untidy and the Mrs is not happy about it.
I want thin so its discreet and easy to hide. Any suggestions?
TIA

Re: Speaker Cable
Does thin include a wide but thin?
I use a ribbon speaker cable for my hifi with very good results, easier to hide down the edge of carpets

I know what you mean but that cable is still quiet thick. I just want that thin cable you get as a standard, but off a better quietly. Is there such a cable?

i doubt it, at the end of the day its all about conductor quality and reducing resistance. By having more cores connected in parrallel you reduce the resistance by half everytime you double the number of conductors. Bell wire doesnt tend to be too good.
One thing i have used in the past as it was proved to have high quality copper is twin and earth as used in house wiring. The problem is its fairly inflexible and looks horrible.

Re: Speaker Cable
For lots of analysis of speaker cables look down this page:
http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/~www_pa/...io/Analog.html
In summary he reckons you should minimise resistance (ie. large cross-sectional area) but, after that, it doesn't make a lot of difference what you do.

Yeah, my 80 strand ones sound pretty good really. I also have OFC mega-expensive leads between the CD player and the amp.
