Any Lap top tech's out there help plz

I have a Samsung T 10 lap top and for some reason the screen has gone like its mirrored you can see everything like its being reflected as though you have a mirror half way down the screen and I also have a white line at the top of the screen about 2 1/2 cms from the top of the screen going horizontal which is not there when no power to the unit.

On an external monitor the display is fine no problems, I have had the unit a part to check connectors and some components and wires but can not see anything wrong by visual inspection.

Can anyone advise if its the screen on its last legs or could it be a problem else where.

I have contacted a company who advised me that they can repair the unit for £150 which if its the screen I have no problems in ordering one and fitting it myself to save a few quids.

Thanks for any advise.

uninstall the graphics drivers and any related software then install new drivers .This will clear any driver setting causing it so this needs to be the first test unless some knows the setting

Thanks for that Zinglebarb but I should of mentioned that this fault is there from switching the lap top even when viewing the bios not just in the operating system.

Sounds like it could be the inverter. This is the board that the cable from the screen plugs into. Have you tried reseating that? You may want to try getting hold of a new inverter board first as this is a lot cheaper than a screen and not all replacement screens come with a replacement inverter.

Can you hook up a monitor to it ? See if it is the screen or the graphics card that is causing the problem.

Thats the thought I had in the terms could it be the inverter I have had this out but again could see no problems all connections ok.

I can get the screen for the unit but I have not come across any where for the inverter board at present I have seen them for other units at roughly 20 odd quid which if is the case its a lot cheaper then paying the 150 quid or 90 quid for the screen.

Any idea's where I could locate one as I would sooner chuck 20 quid in to it to see if I need to chuck in the big quids for the screen.

Fitting the units is as I say not a problem.

Trouble is its a lovely piece of kit and I would like to repair sooner then replace.

If the screen is fine on an external monitor but still messed up on the laptop, then the chances are it's the display controller board on the back of the TFT module that's faulty,

The IT Repair centre may have a screen for it - they can be reached on 01274 691512

To be honest though, £150 for a screen supplied and fitted isn't bad.

Thanks for that I will give them a ring on Monday after I have had a look at the controller board on Sunday.

Am I correct in thinking that the inverter just supplies the voltage and nothing more ? I was lead to beleive other wise but after your post and bit of searching I think I was lead a stray.

WARNING THERE CAN BE HIGH VOLTAGES ON THE INVERTER DO NOT MESS IF YOU HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF HIGH VOLTAGE!

The inverter just supplies voltage for the fluorescent backlight
