BT Area code 05601 ???

Hi all

BT have just installed a new telephone line at my inlaws starting with an area code 05601 !!!!

Problem is we get free calls to land lines starting 01***. So what is this code 05601 sounds at bit strange to me.

Any ideas

That's the number BT gives you call through a BT broadband connection. I have one - if I want to make a call through my router, my number starts 05.

Isn't it a new area code for VOIP numbers?

Thanks all..............bit of a rip off phoning a VOIP and being charged for it as opposed to a lnad line number 01 and not being charged !
