For all you ICE gurus, is this any good?
Ok guys,
I mean In Car Entertainment.
I saw from aldi a car stero for £50, it is in their special buy section, what I need to know is, is it any good/worth it?
I am looking for a new stereo for the car and I would like something that plays MP3s from cd, but I can't afford a lot of money.

You get what you pay for so I wouldn't expect amazing sound or build quality, but for 50 quid you can't really go wrong if it reads mp3's off a CD.

To play mp3s, you won't find anything cheaper. Like Bifta says, you get what you pay for, but hard to beat the value.

Think of it as one of those dvd players for £30 that play anything that you throw at it.
Go for it

I've bought quite a lot of things from Aldi - computer stuff, power tools, food, wine - it has always been good value for money. They also are very good if something has to be returned.
- go for it - like PY666 said, though - get there early, there is usually a queue of 10 to 20 people outside ours on a Thursday, waiting for it to open, so they can bag a bargain.
- as an alternative, if you still have a cassette player in the car, next week they have a portable cd/mp3 player, including a car kit, for £17.99.

4 x 40 watt RMS power output
Anti-shock 40 sec CD & 120 sec CD MP3
MP3 with ID 3 Tag
Sounds pretty good to me, with standard speakers and no sound proofing you would be hard pressed to tell it apart from a £200 unit. And it has enough power to work in a car with 4 speakers and two tweeters quite fine.
Id go for it, its not going to blow you away but for everyday listening its spot on.

I wonder if it can take a certain cable that can make the LCD show up on my dash like my current standard car one

But I am seriously tempted

Re: For all you ICE gurus, is this any good?
I doubt it will taker a cable, I guess you probs have a vauxhal car, you can get special replacement steros that support in dash displays but they cost.
The ALDI Stereo is something I was looking at, but unfortunatly a baseball bat weilding suited man turned up ath the door tonight and demanded £400 so im kinda skint so wil lbe giving it a miss. IT also has pre amp outs, ready for yuor big boom box, if your that way inclned... let me know how you get on, i know a little aldi where i may still be able to get one next week.
On another note, there fly screens for windows seem good, im gonna get one for 99p wil lstop those pesky hornets flying in here all the time..
