Best PAYG deals?

Hi guys what PAYG deals are you on? I need to get a new phone because I lost my old one and I think PAYG is cheaper than contract at the moment. Cheers.

To the forum, hope you enjoy your stay

I am on Orange as they don't penalise me for not using the phone. Would advise you check the network you call the most first to see what PAYG deals they have.

Re: Best PAYG deals?

I am on vodafone smartstep first 3 mins to an other vodafone or landline 30p a minute then 5p per minute every 24 hours but they have better plans if you talk a lot on the phone and they are bringing text bundles out eg 200 texts for £10 which last for 30 days

Oh and welcome to the forum

Re: Best PAYG deals?

3 is by far the cheapest for both handsets and calls.

Re: Best PAYG deals?

3 is poor for occasional use, due to monthly expiry of credit - a return to the "bad old days" before Orange set the cat among the pigeons with "there's no ouch in our voucher".

Discounts?
Vodaphone give 10% extra when you top up £15 or more.
Orange's "repay our prepay" is good for heavy users .. Use £10 in one week and get a free £5 for that week.
Virgin have a discount suitable for heavy users as well.

Easymobile's opening offer - 6p/min any network, any time is pretty good, and the subsequent rate of 15p/min is good for any network on PAYG, but poor for same network or landline unless you never get beyond the expensive first 3 or first 5 minutes on the other's common "step" tariffs.

If all the mobiles you are likely to call most are on one network, then you really need to choose the same network - if you call a lot of mobiles on any network, Easymobile looks the best bet, but about the worst if you mostly call landlines.

Virgin's 15p/min for the first 5, 5p/min for the rest of the day, is one of the better tariffs for same network and landline.

Re: Best PAYG deals?

What happens if you're mid way through a call and you run out of credit? Can you continue the call or does it cut you off straight away? Do you get a warning that you are running low on credit?

Can people still phone you when you run out of credit?

Thats interesting, does that mean that they are affiliated to a network despite their t.v. ad claim to be impartial ???
Just wondering because I've been asked by a friend tonight about what network could offer the best deal on a phone, contract / payg, I said, go to CPW, but by that statement they're biased ...mmmm

Reading more into that, I'm more confused, do the CPW favour this network, or is it just 1 of many

Re: Best PAYG deals?

only a handful of compaines have their own network, 'fresh' is a piggyback service which runs off T-mobile masts.

same applys to easymobile.

Re: Best PAYG deals?

I use fresh payg, and have never had a complaint yet. I find the best bit is direct debit billing so you dont need to haul yer ass down to the local shop to get a topup.
