Hitachi AX-M68D CD Player

Hello! i've just bought new hitachi cd player and it works a treat, especially the DAB radio but i have a problem on the cd tier on the lcd display it has - -/- - like on a vcr when the clock is not set, it even displays when in standby?! the cd has a sleep time which is set elsewhere but what i want to know is, is this a clock and does anyone know how it can be set? the manual has to be the vaguest ever and i can find no reference to it!

Tried to find a manual or user guide online but the Hitachi site doesn't recognise the model for some reason. You'll be happy to know you aren't the only person to ask that question on a forum though, unfortunately the last 3 people who asked it on a link I found didn't get an answer

On our JVC you had to press the "clock" button and then use the remote to input the time but on some units it takes the time from the RDS signal.
I know it took a few mins to work out what to do with the JVC unit, even with the manual

Hello paul, I think it's quite a new model, though in the description it lists "clock" as one of the features there is no ref to it in the manual, i emailed hitachi cmr services twice in the last 10 days with no response???? thanks for looking though, it's appreciated

hmm there is no clock button! the time can be set automatically on the DAB tier but that cannot be seen when in standby or any mode other than dab, the seems to be no way to set the main clock???

If it has a clock button on the remote then I would try pressing that and the turning the volume button or pressing the numbers or up down arrows on the remote. It may be that it takes the clock information from the signal to the radio itself. Have you looked at the various options for the DAB radio section of the hifi?

nothing seems to work the only options on the dab section are sel - +, dab/fm, info, menu

What setting is on the menu for the dab?
This is the only mention of that unit I have found that mentions the clock

I know on our JVC unit it is possible, it could just be that it isn't actually a clock after all this lol. Who did you contact at Hitachi to ask?

oooh the annoyance! but it look sooomuch like it wants to be a clock! i sent a mail to their customer enquiry dept, at least i'm not the only one who thinks it's a clock!

You could ring the uk office I suppose but I doubt if they would be able to tell you

Seems strange that it has the display there but no mention of it in the manual. I suppose it could be that while the radio is on it can display the clock via the RDS/ DAB info but when you switch the radio off there is nothing for it to display.

maybe but when the DAB is on the time appears on the DAB tier never the cd! and getting the time on the DAB tier is one of the info options ie you choose the name of the station, info on programmes,frequency or time and date to appear on the display! right i'm off to find a number for them to ask them!
