Camcorder help please!
Just found an oldish camcorder, a JVC one, it uses the new type of cassettes, but I want to transfer footage from small cassette to VHS cassette. I tried playing through the AV channel and trying to tape it, but it didn't work.. how else can I put it onto VHS? There's no USB lead so I can't transfer it to computer either... Any ideas?
Cheers

Re: Camcorder help please!
you used to be able to get an adapter that would let the small tape fit in a regular sized vhs casing , dont know if you can still get them though

Re: Camcorder help please!
According to a site I found a spec on it should have 1 x composite video/audio output. So you could in theory output it to a video via the correct cable/ adaptor.
Oh and the pack should have included an A/V cable and SCART-Phono adapter so it should be possible to get the right cables etc.

Re: Camcorder help please!
You need a VHS-C adaptor - looks like a VHS tape with a hole in the front to slot the tape into. Then you can play it in a normal VHS video recorder.
However if you want to transfer from VHS-C to VHS, you ought to be able to do that by cabling the camcorder and the VCR together.

Re: Camcorder help please!
The camera should have some sort of output. It will probably have two or three phono sockets (one yellow, the others red and black). These look like
It may (but probably not) have an s-video socket
Your VCR will probably have one or two Scart sockets
You should be able to get a lead (make sure it is switchable, or wired for Scart IN) to connect one of these sockets to the Phono sockets on the camera).
IF your camera has s-video outputs, and you know your video is capable of taking s-video input on the scart socket (the VCR will be marked s-vhs rather than vhs), then use a Scart cable with an s-video socket.
You should then be able to record from the camera to the video.

How did you connect it to do this? If you have a lead that connects to the video you will see the picture on the screen while it is playing if you are tuned into the correct chanel. If you are using a scart adaptor you may need to connect it directly to the scart input on the video player itself.

Actually this sounds like a fairly old camcorder so it will almost certainly not have S-video.
It most probably has a lead combining a BNC and a phono jack on one end to go into the back of the Video, and either BNC and Phono, or something proprietory, on the other end to go into the camera.
There won't be red and black phono leads unless the camera has stereo sound, which is unlikely. Most probably there is just one black phono jack for audio and a BNC alongside it for the video.
As your VCR almost certainly does not have a BNC socket (they are rarely used in domestic applications these days) you may need a new cable.
But please, end this speculation and tell us what you've got!

Right - what you should have done is connected the camcorder to the VCR using the scart lead and then selected, and recorded, the AV channel on the VCR!

It has yellow and white connections, and I have a lead which connects the camcorder to the video..
