Help with mp3
Hi,
My first post so please be gentle!
My friend has recently bought an MP Man MP FOL7 MP3 player for his daughter, to take on a trip, around Europe.
This is not really suited to travelling, as the only means of charging is via a USB socket.
There are to my knowledge no external, or in-car chargers available for this model.
If he were to purchase a powered USB hub and left the data cable out would it safely charge the mp3 player.
I have tried it on my powered hub and it works fine but i still have the data cable connected (too worried i will muck it up, to remove the data cable).
If this is ok, i will have to buy one for him tomorrow as he leaves on Thursday.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Help with mp3
Just switch your PC off - this effectively turns off the data cable - and if it still charges - your fine.
Or am i missing something?

Not allways. Some have wake on USB, and still provide power etc to USB.
Turn the PC off, and then unplug the data cable. You cant mess anything up this way, as long as you plug it back in again before you boot the PC.

i think the question was, how to charge over usb without a 'puter...
i don't see why a powered hub won't work, but i'm not sure whether it would cut off power once it is fully charged, there may be a possibility of damaging it...
