Re: 20 Years of the Mobile Phone
LOL
Yeah it is a great tool but in other ways a real annoying one at the same time.
A phone is a phone. What I cant understand is why people try to make it something else.
Its not a camera so dont make it one.
Its not a Cd player, so dont make it into an mp3 player.
Its not a computer so dont make it a mini PC.
A phone should just be a phone.
Ok, I'm going off topic now.
Anyway.... yep.... Happy birthday Mr Cell phone.

I see where you are coming from but I would rather carry one thing around with me than two or three. It's amazing how useful having a camera always with you is. Before I had a camera phone I would never have bothered to take my camera out with me most of the time.

Well said, you cannot blame the phone just because idiots use them too, like they say "guns don't kill, the person pulling the trigger does."
My mobile is on pretty much 24/7 but you would hardly notice as it is on silent most of the time so that the ring tone doesn't annoy people.

Ah, mine is on all the time as well but you'd never notice. Mind you, that's mostly because I'm horrendously unpopular

Re: 20 Years of the Mobile Phone
I remember back in 86 my boss had a analog one and let me use it whilst he was on holiday, remember using it the first day he was away in centre of Bradford and someone calling me a yuppie! Ha, it was the last time it ventured out with me. It was huge I do remember that!

Re: 20 Years of the Mobile Phone
My mobile is hardly ever switched on.It is purely for those occasions when I have an emergency like a car breakdown.
Incog.

Re: 20 Years of the Mobile Phone
I still have one of those Mobira Talkman things.
Obviously it doesn't work, it's been sitting in the shed since about 1990.
I seem to remember it weighs a ton (a good 20-30 kilos), took several hours to charge then lasted about 30 seconds of actual talktime. Bit like my Motorola Timeport (apart from the weight)..

Re: 20 Years of the Mobile Phone
I should keep quiet actually on this one, as to many people's suprise, I have only owned a mobile since about 6 months.
Yep, never had one before.
I guess the camera is good for quick pictures, and of course not serious photography.
