Question TV Recorder (H/D) & PC Connectivity

Is there a way to get a DVBT Hard Disk recorder and then after you record off it, sent it to PC via USB2 ?

I dont want to do it via RF or via a TV card on my PC as I dont want to get a loss of quality.

Any such thing on the market? I have been looking, but all I find is Sky+ or Hard Drives but NO way to get it on the PC without Scart/RF

I have a Archos AV380 but it records at 320 x 240 Div-X but NO Free View (DVBT) inbuilt.

Like Sky+ without a monthly fee & then cnnect to PC. I saw TIVO but still no PC connect...

Re: TV Recorder (H/D) & PC Connectivity

So far, problems with copyright prevent anyone from manufacturing a digital recorder with any sort of digital interface. Your best bet is probably to record an s-video (or possibly a composite) output from the DVB-T recorder.

Alternatively, get a DVB-T card for the PC such as the Nebula DigiTV and record straight to hard disk.

lol.. I have a Nebula. But would have to leave PC on 24/7 if I was out or on night shows....

I know Tivi boxes can be fitted with a network card and big harddrives that allows you to rip the stuff off in its native mpeg format....

Re: TV Recorder (H/D) & PC Connectivity

But to get stuff into your Typo box in the first place you'll need to get your STB to convert the DVB-C signal to analogue and then let the Tivo convert it back to digital so it can store it on it's hard disk. The Tivo does not understand DVB-C (digital cable).

Re: TV Recorder (H/D) & PC Connectivity

that is what i was thinking, but logic would dictate that if you find one of these companis that deal in modified Tivo boxes, they would be able to answer your questions on recording DVB-C direct from source

Re: TV Recorder (H/D) & PC Connectivity

Sorry, I got side-tracked onto DVB-C there. JediMaster is after a DVB-T recorder but the same reasoning still applies to the Tivo though.

If DVB-S (satellite) is an option then you could investigate using the DM7000 from Dream Multimedia. It runs Linux and has an ethernet interface.
