[Merged] SMS to landlines
My sister just sent me an SMS to my landline. An automated female voice reads out the text message for you. I didn't know it was possible to do this... since when has it been possible. I tried some time ago and it never worked. I think you can do this regardless of the mobile/landline network involved.

Just like macca says, you get an automated voice reading it out to you...

obviously i would have to use my home phone number but do you need to put a number in front of it apart from the area code ?????????

Nope, I just put in the full number 0208 123 4567 and that was it... nothing else... However a friend of mine just tried it O2 to BT, and it didn't work

Yup, they must be the only networks that can send to a landline. It doesn't matter what network the landline you are sending to is on.
The service will be enabled on 02 in a few weeks.

it's a fairly new feature this. was in the paper a few days ago about it, it has trouble with some irish words and some of the more obscure txt-speak abbreviations...
