I've used bigfix for over three years and i agree it often tells you of things that windows update doesnt (Microsoft Baseline does as well). However i've not had any updates reported by bigfix in over three months

Some useful bits to be found here:

Hi
To be honest, its the first time I've used it in months lol. I'd guess you were using windows 98, the same as me, since windows XP came out there have been very few updates for windows 98 so maybe thats why.

Thats strange and a bit worrying since there have been critical updates recently do you have the function of updating in the background switched on?

Re: share your best freeware
Tch! Far too much IT and not enough chemistry in this list of freeware.
Try this periodic table which allows you to set start and finish temperatures and watch the elements change phase as the temperature rises or falls. Fascinating!

I think I can safely say that I've not required the use of a periodic table for over 16 years.

You never can tell when it might come in useful (but don't ask me for an example).

i do know but i dont let it auto install. Make it let me know what there is.
But bigfix runs as soon as it boots up so should be first in line to tell me

Disable it, reboot and then turn it back on? Might be a file corruption somewhere?
Are you running SP2 at all?

Re: share your best freeware
I don't know if there's a link to this site, but it's a free image hosting site with an 850 kb limit per image, might be of use to those who don't have or want to have there own webspace
