OK lets try this:

In control Panel go to Add/Remove programs then to the add/remove windows components section IE should appear on that list de-select it and windows should backtrack to the earlier version.

Then re-run the setup.

this may be a really silly question, Susie, but do you run any software that includes an option to disable banner ads or cookies? (not pop-up blockers, though)

I assume you have your Internet Explorer 'Security' settings on 'medium' - but do you run Adwatch or ZoneAlarm Pro, as well, for example?

Running neither of those homealone............I do have pc cillin antivirus and firewall running, but have checked the settings and all seems ok, I also disabled the firewall ,but made no difference

I'ts built in with pc cillin.......just tried sociables idea, didnt work............sob sob

I've done it at last, I disabled the web trap filter in pc cillin, which filters malicious java and active x progs.............restarted the pc and BINGO at last I can read my hotmail........many , many thanks to Sociable and homealone for all the help................oh Im so relieved thats fixed
