You need to put your wav file into the directory that all the other sounds are already in. Then when you go to change the notification sound, your new wav file name will be in the list of selectable sounds.

Its in c:\windows\media for me on win XP.

Re: Email sounds in OE

You don't. Go into Control Panel (XP) and sounds and audio devices, select the sounds tab. Theres a list of the Windows events (new mail included) and their associated sounds. Find the new mail and change the associated sound.

Re: Email sounds in OE

This was taken from the web addy that Bifta posted

Select Control Panel from the Start menu.
Make sure you are in Classic View.
Double-click Sounds and Audio Devices.
Go to the Sounds tab.
Highlight New Mail Notification in the Program Events list.
Select a sound from the Sounds list, or use the Browse button to find a sound not in the list.
Click OK.

And as for the custom sound simply make it and use the Browse button to find a sound not in the list.

Presto it works I just tested it
