Question Pop Up Stopper Professional?

Hi all i found Pop Up Stopper Professional, while surfing the web and i want to know if i wasn't pleased with it how could i stop the company from sending me updates and new via email? Is there possibly a way i could stop them from sending me mail or get off their mailing list?

Hi Wayne

all of the e-mails I get for my applications have an 'opt out' link included and with reputable companies they do actually work.

you might also investigate the pop-up stopping function of the google tool bar - which has the advantage of being free.

That is quite common for this type of application, although how they do it varies. Some like my McAffee Antivirus 'phone home' on a regular basis to check for updates, others require you to check their website or notify you by e-mail. At the end of the year they will invite you to pay for another.

Any update function should be removed when the program is uninstalled and like I said any e-mails will have an opt-out link.

It allows you to 'try before you buy' and I don't think you will have any problems if you decide you don't like it.

- do be aware that some 'shareware' programs can install adware/malware on your machine, however I havn't heard of any problems like this, with Popup Stopper.

All my antivirus and firewall programs update online automatically. (Norton & Mcaffee). I would like to try the pop up blovker cos it seems better than the Google toolbar. I just like to take precausions before giving out persinal information.

When you register there should be a tick box that you can check asking for you to be included in mailings. If the new laws are passed then people will have to opt in - not out. !!!!

I believe that there is an exception if you already have an established business relationship with a company, and I would expect that buying their software would count, and if the company is outside of the UK in the first place then our laws do not apply.

Another alternative would be to just use Mozilla, it has integrate pop-up blocking and you'll also avoid all the other annoyances that you have to put up with when using IE.

did you get yesterdays? - you should be on dat 4315?

- mine seems to do it in the background, but I don't do online gaming - I can see how that would be a pain, though

But Mozilla does NOT support the MSN Gaming Zone.

Re: Pop Up Stopper Professional?

I know it's not generally available yet but XP SP2 will introduce a pretty fine popup stopper which you can customize on a site-by-site basis.

The first time you hit a site with popups it asks you how to handle the site in future, seems fairly unobtrusive and works well.

Re: Pop Up Stopper Professional?

I bought PopUpCop 3 years ago.I get regular updates and it costs me nothing to keep doing so.Unlike some 'other' software that insists one repurchases every year ay an increased cost.
