Question any favicon experts here

I am trying to make a favicon work at my website http://www.kidsgrove-astro.co.uk/
(sorry the code is a bit of a mess I've been trying all sorts)
So the problem is the favicon works if the site is viewed with mozilla but will not work when viewed with ie 5 or 6.
any ideas what is wrong and what can be done to fix it?
or has microsoft stopped supporting favicons?

my thanks to anybody that replies, because I'm out of ideas

Re: any favicon experts here

UPDATE....... it now works if you add the site to your favorites,
is there anyway to just make it work when the site is visited?

No, MSIE does not attempt to read the favicon until the user saves a favourite: hence the name "favicon"

msie downloads the file without you having to save a favorite
so why wont it show in the address bar instead of the blue "e"
is there anyway to have an address bar image link and override ie's
default behavior

jay.dee is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: any favicon experts here

It works when you hold down the mouse button on the 'e icon' in the address bar, then drag the icon over the word 'address' and let go, do this a couple of times while on the website.

This seems to update the favicon and it should show, if not then refresh the page/browser. Favicons don't work with all browsers though.
Flawed Microsoft technology...
