Re: mcdonalds to introduce wifi

Perhaps it could replace the "would you like fries with that?" message that seems to be stereotypical of all fast food restaurant workers.

Would you like wi-fi with that, sir?

No offence intended to anyone that works at a branch of Mcdonalds or in the fast food/service industry

Yes it is legal to call it a big mac, the US cannot call a burger a "quarterpounder" because they use the metric system.

Huh - The US use the imperial system, so a quarterpounder is a valid sale item.

In europe it's the Royal (with Cheese) - Did you not watch Pulp Fiction?

The BigMac is a trademarked product name so can be used anywhere.

Wouldn't it encourage you to hang about a bit - surely the last thing they want (last this I want to do either)

Not sure it was Macdonalds or not but I remember one burger chain having seating which sloped forwards making it too much effort to hang around too long !

Hmm - I remember McD's introducing fines for loitering. Predominantly to stop kids (the ones that would swipe the laptop) from hanging around.

Re: mcdonalds to introduce wifi

I wonder if they will shut down the servers at night, and will it be open or will you have to get some type of one off WEP key to access.
If not you could sit in your Car at night, or the Day for that matter depending on the location of the McDonalds and download to your hearts content, depending on the speed this may even be faster than on my 1mb at home, could even be an SDSL

Edit: and you guys are starting to take the McMick with wall the Mc'ing

I can just visualise the scene;
Parked outside McD after it's shut at night with £1,500 laptop on seat.
Tap on window (funny place to have a tap) local yoblets peering in.
Door wrenched open or window smashed.
You sat at side of road minus laptop, car, cash, mobile phone and CCs'
Voice echoes from down the street " Is that to go Sir ?"
