eMule - Low ID Query

Hi
I'm a bit new to this so would be appreciate if anyone is able to give me some clues (please!)

I am running eMule with Windows XP, NTL 600 Broadband and Kerio Personal Firewall and am getting massively Low Id values in eMule which, from my limited knowledge, might explain the ridiculously long D/L times.

Have tried configuring firewall to accept ports used by eMule and also tried disabling firewall - all to no effect.

Comments gratefully recieved

Thanks
Hobgoblin

Re: eMule - Low ID Query

dont use default ports as they seem to be the slowest for dload speeds. check here for more info on ports and router port forwarding.
i use emule plus and it has v good days an bad days too but the id is solvable provided that u set it up right

Re: eMule - Low ID Query

You also get low ID's if you have little to share or have only just started. Ports are only part of the equation, how many files are you sharing?

Re: eMule - Low ID Query

Thanks for the replies, to answer the queries...

No I don't have a router and I am sharing 413 files

Martinell - what port settings would you suggest? I have already set my firewall to allow the ports advised in the link you forwarded. Do the 'Capacities' or 'Limits' settings in Preferences>Connection have much bearing?

Re: eMule - Low ID Query

I've always found emule dead slow regardless of what I do.

Re: eMule - Low ID Query

i use port 21 for tcp cons and 4672/4665 for udp. make sure that you share a few files at least and check with jigle.com for the location of servers with plenty of the same files you want. most of all give it a chance! takes me a few hours to get enough credits with other clients to be able to open the throttle to full but it does rock after a while(if its not havin a "bad day")
tip.. start your upload bandwidth at half its capacity to give yourself a chance to make connections, give it an hour or so then bump it up to 10kbs this will give you limitless dload bandwidth(bout 65kbs)
if you dont need to browse the web set max connections to 75/100 or so...
dont try to wait for just 1 file at a time, u will sit and wait for ever,
find something else to do for awhile, Patience is def the virtue with emule/donkey but the files are at least 99.99999% of the time what they say they are
Happy sharing!!!!

btw what are massivly low id's?
