Interesting. Very interesting. In Canada, the number of broadband connections exceed the number of regular connections. Something like 56% of all internet connections are now broadband.

Re: 20% of UK Net connections are broadband

i think overall broadband services/ISP's will continue to see a rise in consumer demand as more people get to grips with the broadband revolution and the 'content' that is available on the web

the aggressive priceing on ADSL also helps the market

although i expect growth to be slow for the foreseeable future atleast.............

Re: 20% of UK Net connections are broadband

Most of the people I know, both friends & work colleagues are still on 56K

Not so odd, untill you relise I work in IT
In our department of 17, everyone has internet access at home, but only 5 have broadband, and I'm one of them
Mind you, a big reason for that is the area, no chance for broadband for some of them, and they'd be happy to connect at anything like 56K

Re: 20% of UK Net connections are broadband

Hmm, it's far off 20% for the people I know who have access to the net.

I think that people who know the advantages of broadband don't see anything wrong with paying £20+ p/month for access, but I still know a lot of people that refuse to pay that much just to access the web. However, they don't see anything wrong with paying £40+ p/month for satellite channels, etc... Personally, I don't begrudge paying for broadband, although I do think that £35 p/month for my 1MB line is a bit excessive if you see how much it costs in other countries.
