Angry Paris Hilton spam

Presumably I'm not alone in being bombarded every 5 mins with this spam, enjoing me to visit www.special-selections.com. It's so constant and persistent, that ntl could surely block it? I know it's not a contract term but there is such a thing as customer care (although not identifiable at ntl so far).

Re: Paris Hilton spam

Welcome to NTHW lesrose.

Agree with you 100% on this, in fact it is only action by the ISP's that will end this madness IMHO. Maybe if NTL and others started to blacklist the offending locations until they clean up their act things would improve.

Can't remember which ISP it is, but at least one is now offering this as a specific part of the service now but let's hope NTL follow their example.

I can't afford to stay in luxury hotels, which may explain why I haven't received any emails.

Re: Paris Hilton spam

The trouble is that they will get complaints from people if they start blocking mails. I have sugested before that they run some form of AI software like spam asasin and simply flag the mail. The end user could then set up a rule to zap the crap - so to speak.

Re: Paris Hilton spam

Just set up a rule to block words, or even better get a mail washer with the ability to bounce emails. Both have little effect to large spam corps but could stop individual crap. The MTA's now filter mails based on IP addresses and use rules like if IP x.x.x.x spams > x then 'block x.x.x.x'

Re: Paris Hilton spam

Given the on-going problem with NTL e-mail it is just shere lunacy for NTL not to be taking direct action themselves on this issue the savings in traffic alone would probably help them get a system that actually works as it should.

Quite right they will get complaints - and I will be the first - I pay NTL to deliver my e-mail - I will decide if it's spam, not them.

According to these forums NTL have enough trouble delivering e-mail as it is - do you really want them to add another layer to the process and potentially delay and lose more mail

Works both ways though pem and the failure to address the problem of spam server-side is part of the overall problem with E-mail I suspect.

Would be relatively simple for people to sign up for a non filitered service if they should wan't it but it is becoming clear some form of filter needs to be put in place for the benefit of the majority who I suspect would be happy for NTL to apply one.

Re: Paris Hilton spam

Just recieved 60 emails in one NTL account and only 9 was for me the rest was spam.

And 39 spam emails in an account that is only for the NTL bill for internet.

I have my email address on my website and get less spam on htere than through NTL where one email addy hasn't been used on websites....
