Snowflakes

OK I've just added the traditional falling snowflakes to my sons website and a mate has told me that this is now a no no when it comes to website design.

Do others do this? - If not how do you add your "Seasonal touches" to your site.

Re: Snowflakes

I've added them to mine, and feesch has them too.
The only negative feed back I've had is from one person who's got a low spec machine and never says anything positive, that when he views all the animated smilies to pick one, they don't animate.
Works fine for everyone else so we've just told him tuff

Now if I could work out how to have an extra layer, i'd have falling santas too

Other than looking a bit tacky and probably having issues with different browsers I can't see any reason why you shouldn't do it. I just added some snow to my logo .. a bit like google.

Re: Snowflakes

It all depends on the type of site it is.

I have added a count down to Christmas on one that I admin with snowflakes (in me profile lol)
I have also thought of putting snowflakes on one other that I have and admin along with the one that’s on ntl only I am looking for a small type of snowflake to similar to the one I have for UT.

But it is a personal preference thing and if it looks good why not.

Most sites put up some form of Christmass logo/gimick

Not many put up bunnys for easter or fireworks for Nov 5.

Its a time for fun and frolics and if its done right time to get peeps attension and sell to them LOL

Re: Snowflakes

Can't remember now, was looking for java scripts to do the snowflakes, nabbed the image and made it a bit smaller.
Feel free to use it

It's a heck of a lot harder finding a nice snowflake than I thought it would be!

Re: Snowflakes

Cheers will do does the script have it as a blizzard or as a gentle fall I think a gentle fall would be less intrusive.

Thanks
