Re: ebay

Forward the message to 'spoof at ebay.co.uk' and they will deal with it - someone managed to hack into my account last year, only for a couple of hours, luckily it was a weekend and I was about to spot it. Check your Ebay account and your Paypal one, I was lucky with mine, I got control back fairly quickly, well done to Ebay though.
Good luck!

Did you try to log on via the email or using your normal browser > eBay log-on ???

If the former you MUST go to eBay (via your normal browser log-on) and change your password from there NOW, and as fireman328 says do the same for PayPal !!

NEVER, EVER follow links in emails, even if you think it is genuine. If there is a problem with your accounts eBay / PayPal will advise you when you log-on normally through your browser.

A28 FPA NOTICE #UK: eBay Password Reset - user name Follow Instructions Immediately

A28 FPA NOTICE #UK: eBay Password Reset - user name Follow Instructions Immediately

Dear user name

In order to protect the security of your eBay account, we have reset your password and secret question. This action was taken because your password may have been compromised.

We cannot disclose the investigative procedures that led to this conclusionbut please know that we acted in your best interest. We appreciate your cooperation in working with us to protect your account by taking the following steps.

Since your password was reset, you will need to create a new password by following the instructions provided below. Until you complete this process, you will not be able to bid on or list an item.

1. Click on the "site map" link at the top of most eBay pages.
2. Click on the 'I forgot my password' link located in the middle column under the 'Services' heading.
3. Once you have reached the 'Forgot Your Password?' page enter your User ID in the provided box and click on the 'Continue' button.
4. On the next page you will be asked to answer the Secret Question that you created at the time of registration OR provide one of three pieces of contact information from your eBay account. Since we have reset your Secret Question along with your password you will not have the correct answer to your secret question. Please proceed by supplying one of the three pieces of contact information requested then clicking the 'Continue' button.
5. An email with the subject line 'Forgotten Password' will then be sent to the email addressed you have tied to your eBay account. Please log into your email account and click on the link supplied to you in the email that we have sent.
6. Once you arrive at that link you will be prompted to enter your User ID one more time, then enter and reenter your new password.

IMPORTANT: In addition to changing the password on your eBay account, please change the password on your personal email account. If your old eBay password was also the password for any other online account you use (PayPal, etc.), we recommend that you immediately change those passwords as well. To maintain password security, each one of your online accounts should have a different password. Even a slight difference (one letter or number) offers substantial protection.

SELLERS: After creating your new password on eBay you will need to update the eBay password that is stored within any auction/listing software that you may use to list your items, relist your items, or add information to your listings. Taking this step will ensure that your current and future listings run without interruption.

Taking these steps will ensure you are the only one that has access to your account. Also, please remember the following guidelines when it comes to password security:

1. Be wary of emails appearing to be from eBay that include links to pages that require you to sign in, as these are often attempts to collect your password information. Make sure that the Web site you are directed to is a part of the eBay site. Please note this email does not provide a link, but asks that you go directly to eBay. Always make sure that you're on an eBay page before giving out your eBay password or credit card information. The best way to ensure that you are on the eBay site is to type www.ebay.com into the Web address window of your browser.

2. Make sure your password is difficult to guess, and uses a combination of letters and numbers.

3. Don't use the same password on eBay that you use on your email account, or on other Web sites.

4. Review additional information on account security and choosing a secure password. To review this information, please visit the eBay Help system by clicking on the "help" link located at the top of every eBay page and then choosing the following topics:

Topics > Safe Trading > If Something Goes Wrong... > Account Theft

If you require assistance with issues that are not addressed in this message, please refer to the eBay Help Center by clicking on the "help" link located at the top of most eBay pages.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience in this matter.

Regards,

eBay Trust & Safety

You might like to edit that quickly to remove your e-mail addy at the bottom...

Re: ebay

I have had the same email twice in 1 month, twice my password has been reset and I got the same email from ebay, Mine was from ebay.... when I went to www.ebay.co.uk and went to log on it said the password was incorrect, meaning it had been reset.

I sent a email to them and got a bog standard reply to check there help section, happens again in the next month will stop using ebay.

BTW, my password is 17 charc's long and is using upper/lower cases, numbers and symbols, so if someone did hack it, there bloody good.

Regards
Mark
