Re: Music on webpage ???
Music on a web page is one of the most annoying things ever invented. If you want people to stay on your page and return then keep things silent.

Re: Music on webpage ???
It depends what type of music.
If it is some midi file that loops constantly then forget it. It will drive people away.
However, if you have a changing track or maybe ambient sounds, that can be interesting.
If you use flash, you can make a mini player that would call different sounds or tracks to keep things interesting, but that's quite complicated if you havent done that before.
Whatever you do, make sure you let your visitors have the option of turning it off if they wish.

Yeah, even that's annoying. Like on those annoying flash intros from the '90s that the Myspace Generation of web designers seem to be using nowadays. God it's annoying, and it's another reason to get Firefox
Not to mention, you should have a big old warning before you get to the offending sites in question, that they're Not Safe For Work

Re: Music on webpage ???
Youll often find that Frontpage can more than DOUBLE the size of a web page by putting in tons of useless Microsoft Junk (tm)

Or better still, give them the option of turning it on if they want.
Nobody will, of course
If you are going to put music on your webpage, at least make it a bit more usable by putting an enormous BACK button right in the middle, as that'll be what everybody will scramble for as soon as it starts playing

Notepad is the only real essential, though I do admit to using a wysiwyg web editor, but only because its one my work makes so I have to know it to support it I generally use it for quick page creation, then crank up notepad, do my html tinkering, and put it back into the editor coz it has an uploader built in.

Re: Music on webpage ???
The only problem I sometimes have with notepad is when it decides it wants to place everything on on line and ignore any formatting

Re: Music on webpage ???
My story page has an embedded music file in it - it's a joke relating to the story, but you can make the player visible to people so they can turn it off.
The code you want to put after the <BODY> tag is:
<EMBED SRC=tune.mid VOLUME="80" AUTOSTART=TRUE LOOP=TRUE HIDDEN=FALSE>
click on my link in my sig and you'll see it working
