Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox
At this moment in time, I'm in love with opera 9 beta - some of the widgets are good, I especially like the " touch the screen" widget... and it does seem to work better with RSS feeds - the downsides to this beta (and there aint many) are it crashes now and again and it also takes up more resources than firfox. But overall I've been using it more than firefox for the past couple of week. Lets hope the bugs are ironed out, then it'll be opera all the way.

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox
had to vote IE because you left out the best browser "opera"
for me in this order
Opera
IE
Firefox.
Few home truths for people.
Mozilla is faster then firefox dispite the hype surrounding how firefox has been trimmed down for performance.
IE renders page faster then the current version of firefox although the beta of firefox was faster.
Dispite the thoeries firefox is no more secure then IE.
Firefox is still incompatible with the most pages out of all 3 browsers.

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox
Although I use firefox and have done for some time - there is a few things which are not quite right about it.
Loading time
After I press the Icon - I expect it to be on my screen, much like IE & Opera does no problem but there is a second or so pause.
Reboot FF to apply Extention/Theme etc
Why can it not apply the theme on the fly? Opear can.
Chomps Memeory
It uses more memory the more Tabs you have open - Opera on the other hand has a very small Memory footprint.
Personally I think while FF was great - Opera is starting to take its place.

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox
You know you can tell Fx not to use so much memory, its directly proportionate to the amount of RAM you have, somewhere in the about:config there are options for this. It's so the page back/forward function is really fast... Or so i am told.

Really, I have more trouble with Opera (am giving it ago at the moment) accessing pages, Capital One won't even let me get to the login page!

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox
The final beta release of Opera.
Quote:
Opera 9 Beta 2
[May 23, 2006 — Thomas Ford] We released the second – and final – beta of Opera 9 today. This will be the last major milestone release before the final launch of Opera 9. The most notable change is to the widget UI. You'll notice that we've included widgets separately in the menu bar. If you click to manage widgets, your widgets open in a separate tab, similar to our transfer manager. From this tab, you can add new widgets, open downloaded widgets and remove widgets you don't want.

Changes since beta 1
Download Opera 9.0 beta 2 here
All-in-all I think Opera is foxier!
Still having some probs with java... ie when trying to relist items in ebay. But I can live with that.

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox
I use Firefox as I've moved the wife and I over to Slackware 10.2. My XP (and expensively purchased software) installation is quietly gathering dust.
IE *is* a better application to use; maybe weaker security wise, but is nicer to use...

I use both and for me personally neither is faster or slower. Neither browser has problems loading the sites I visit, so I struggle to see a difference.

ahh but half the stuff introduced in IE7 was already in firefox wasn't it?
Also I can say quite happily that I have NEVER had any problems getting pages to load in FF, outside of windows update which forces you to use IE. Thats ONE site out of billions on the internet. I have also never had a single popup interrupt my browsing since installing FF.
It's like the new version of MS office having new features remarkably similar to a certain open source office package.
