If you have a scrolly mouse, the centre scroller if it can be clicked will also close tabs in firefox

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox
I use a mixture of the two, soemtimes you are forced to use IE, and as a web devloper cross browser compatability is a must.
But its the same for linux, i switch between that and windows.
If only the companies would all sit round a table thrash out some standards and then we might be able to use one product all the time, until then my computing experience feels a bit disjointed.

I am just interested about IE and FF

You might only be interested in these 2, but others may have a preference for another browser... I'd suggest at least having a 3rd option of 'Another browser'.
By the way, if your avatar is anything to go by, you'll be better off going with Firefox as IE isn't natively available for Linux, and even under Wine, it's not that great

Care to quantify that statement...? Usually when people suggest this, it turns out that they're comparing a mature product that has been released many years ago (IE) with a newer product that is still new-to-market (FF). I find it a better comparison to examine IE v1.0 with FF v1.0 and look at the number of flaws in each product
Also, despite Microsoft's huge budget for IE, even MS can't compete with the number of C++ programmers that are free to examine the FF codebase, identify and ultimately work on fixing any issues that are flagged. AFAIK, Mozilla is still quicker at fixing FF bugs than Microsoft is at fixing IE bugs.

With the IE tab ( link) you can switch to the IE rendering engine in Firefox which saves having to actually use IE

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox
The new version of Firefox (v2) has little x's on each tab ala IE7.
But to be honest, i prefer it the way it is - dont ask me why - i tried IEtabs a couple of months ago and ended up dumping it.

It's called Bon Echo and its an Alpha release i think, you're best of getting portable Bon Echo. The uninstaller doesn't work the last time i checked, but as Portable versions don't install to begin with there should be no problem

I have it in on my machine (IE7) but it never gets used other than for sites that force you to use IE.
Using Firefox is like having a nice, distraction free browsing experience, using IE is like using a Pinball machine to access the web.
