Gallery Software
Looking for a decent gallery package, to create a website... With bubba imminently due.. wanna start getting these things sorted...
Im looking for a package that allows me to bulk upload photos, last thing i wanna do is upload 100's of photos individually... I'd like it to create thumbnails automatically for the images too, as the images are 3.5mb in size... so thumbnails will be needed for quick loading...
So what have you guys used that would fit this bill nicely?
Cheers

Re: Gallery Software
You can upload "bulk" photos to a folder on the website and add them through the administration panel on Coppermine by folder. Works very well

Re: Gallery Software
Have a look at Picasa ( http://picasa.google.co.uk/) Pretty good image editing & photo organisation packge that can also help you order prints and create gallery sites.
Oh, and it's free.

Just upload all images via FTP, run a single .php page to generate all the thumbnails for you.. and you're done.
Mine as a demo: :link:

Re: Gallery Software
If you have Adobe Photoshop you can do it there as well.
On the file menu, then Automate, and then Web Photo Gallery.
Gives you a whole site with thumbnails etc. Very easy to do.
Then just upload it all using your FTP software.

Re: Gallery Software
Cant belive anyone hasnt mentioned this yet...
http://gallery.menalto.com/
Its the only one, completely free, highly configurable, skinnable and it does exactly what it says on the tin.
I use it on my Website.
You can upload zips etc, and it automatically extracts them, creates thumbnails and puts it all together for you automatically.
You can also use Java Applets on the web space to upload from anywhere as well.

Re: Gallery Software
Cheers all.... looks like got some playing to do....... the missus just hit me with another one.... our parents seperated... (hers and mine) whilst mine are ammicable.... well to say hers are not is an understatement, and as such she would want to resist from allowing photos of them with the grandchild to be seen by each other (to save the hassel)... do any of these offer some sort of permission structures? if not, then the easiest thing is to put them into different directories, so its not too much of an issue... just a "would like" feature...
Again.... cheers all! Appreciated!

Re: Gallery Software
It could easily be done on Coppermine I think, but would need for them to both have accounts.
