Thumbs down Investor Alerts

Anybody else been getting these emails ? My yahoo mail account has been great for not letting spam through, these buggers do get through though. They look like scanned images of something that resembles a fax, informing people to buy certain company shares. But because they are .gif images, they are a little trickier to filter. I have though, through my email client

The cheek of some clever buggers these days though

Re: Investor Alerts

Spammers will always try to stay one step ahead of the filters. What gets me is that spam must work, there must be someone gullible enough to buy the stuff promoted else the spammers would give up.

Most spam works because once you have bought all the gear, sending a lot of spam is relatively cheap. Cheap enough that you only need one interested party to buy the product/service or fall for the scam to turn a profit. You can then use some of that profit to send out another half a billion spam emails. At least one of which is likely to reach an interested party.

Re: Investor Alerts

There are definately some very gullible people out there. This scam has raised quite a stir in the U.S, and led to some serious investigations, and finger pointing at company's themselves, suggesting they may have some knowledge as to whats going on.

http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/060407/20060407005330.html?.v=1

All because some stocks and shares kiddie, wants to cash in on people's gullibility by driving up share prices.

There is a thread over at dslreports.com
