Re: newsgroups nooby.. help plz :D
You can use Outlook Express (if you want...)
Set it up, add a news-server (news.ntlworld.com) and go from there.
There are other newsgroups, but you pay for most of them.

What i use is Newshosting, newsleecher(like grabit) and then google NZB SITES.
I recommend you read the whole of this thread for some info. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...t=40458&page=2 (pages 2,3,4 might be helpful regarding newshosting and how to use newsgroups easily.

How about a different approach...? What problem are you having? Have you read the manual?
Also, which binaries are you wanting to download from? Are you aware that NTL don't offer all the possible newsgroups, including certain alt.binaries ?

If your capable of doing torrents then you can use newsgroups using the NZB files.
Example:-
1. Pay for news access http://www.newshosting.com/ at $8.95 a month (£8.70 odd)
2. Get a newsreader http://www.newsleecher.com/
3. Go to a NZB site http://newzmonster.com/ and download a nzb file(think of it like a torrent file).
4. Open the NZB file into your newsreader (newsleecher) and you will see a list of files.
5. Click Connect and assuming Newsleecher has been setup with your login info then it will download all those files assuming their not to old (if over 40 days old then they won't be available anymore).
6. Finished.
I can't put it any easier than that, i hope that helps.

But can the torrent kiddies handle it when they get an incomplete file? Try explaining PAR2 files to them. and what about all those rar files that they have to join up. One look at 105 .rXX files on their hard drive might have them running away.

Re: newsgroups nooby.. help plz :D
look at it this way, use Torrents or other P2P and have the risk that FACT or some other agency workin for the entertainment industry poking around on your PC seeing what you have downloaded and filesharing.
Or learn how to do newsgroups.
i know which i go for, infact i have years ago. Its really not difficult. Yes you may have to pay for a decent newsgroup provider but they are cheap compared to what you have to pay if FACT get hold of you for illegal filesharing.
