Idiot reqs help with FireFox
Anyone pleeeease got any ideas why I cant get FF to animate smilies and avatars?
I've got cookies enabled, Images allowed, Java and Java scripts allowed, the only extensions installed are Checkspell, Mozilla spell check libraries and IE View. I've been messing with this on and off for months with no joy. No doubt its something blatantly obvious I'm missing
Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Try turning off ad blocking and see if it makes any difference.

Re: Idiot reqs help with FireFox
If you put "about:config" (without the quotes) into your address bar and locate the item "image.animation_mode" what is it's value ?
---------- Post added at 15:13 ---------- Previous post was at 15:12 ----------
If it's "none" just double click the line and change the text to "normal".

Not got it switched on neither am I running any 3rd party ad blocking software. If I just use IE then everything seems ok but even if I use IE View within FF then no animations

Re: Idiot reqs help with FireFox
Have you tried clearing your cache?
---------- Post added at 15:31 ---------- Previous post was at 15:30 ----------
It could also be a firewall issue, do you have ZoneAlarm?

Re: Idiot reqs help with FireFox
Yes mate cache cleaned automatically daily through Zone Alarm pro and manually weekly along with the other normal maint, as for Zone alarm it makes no difference whether its running or not

Re: Idiot reqs help with FireFox
It was a while ago, now, but I'm sure I had to disable both ad blocking and cookie handling in Zone Alarm Pro, in order for all animation on the page to work???

Re: Idiot reqs help with FireFox
Stu, try this, even though you've tried with ZA off, it worked for me.
Open the ZA panel go to Privacy>Custom tab>Mobile code control>Ad blocking>....se if animation has a tick in it, mine did, just uncheck it, apply and let us know

Re: Idiot reqs help with FireFox
Mobile code blocking is off completely mate, beside the only thing checked in there is remove private header info on the cookies tab
---------- Post added at 16:31 ---------- Previous post was at 16:07 ----------
Got the thing, added Firefox to Norton AV 2005 worm protection program control list with a permit all and bang I'm now able to get epileptic fit from Bops Avatar
Thanks all for the help.
I'm confused though as to why NAV should consider a browser a worm have to have a nose through their support.
have to go hunting for a nice flashy avatar now
