It is listed in programs and under Accessories, system tools, Internet explorer (no add ons) and yet they are all enabled.
No shortcuts

Re: Add on Conflicts.
yeah but the problem is that you want to try and get it to run, not stop it. It is defo something active x related and maybe flash. Click on tool, internet options, security, in your security zone click on custom and have a look at the active x options. Most of mine are disable but there is one for run active x controls and plugins which I have got as enable.

Re: Add on Conflicts.
I am on day 3 trying to stop the :
An Add-on for this web site (ebay) failed to run. check the security settings in internet options for potential conflicts.
Which I am unable to stop. When I find myself in one of these Scenarios it usually ends in a complete f**k up and I loose the lot and end up purchasing a new computer. I understand it is now possible to 'back up' my bits and bobs online somewhere in a 'cloud'
Where can I do this and do I have to pay ? I feel I should do it in any event.

Re: Add on Conflicts.
Just a quick thought.
What version of JRE are you running. Oracle "fixed" something in JRE6u27 and higher that breaks some security setting in some sites. I think this was to prevent cross site Java script issues. It broke some stuff on a vendor supplied site internally and we had to play with policy files in the JRE directories to allow sites to by pass the new security. It may be fixed in JRE 6u30. From memory FF and other may handle this without playing.
I can't pass on the exact details as I'm unsure of the disclosure that the vendor advice falls under.

Re: Add on Conflicts.
As far as I am aware MSE is designed to turn off Windows Defender as the two programs are not compatible. During the last couple of years, apart from a short period recently when I was running Norton AV on my new laptop, I have always used MSE with Widows Defender disabled.
Just had a dig around and here's the official Microsoft explanation.
