Returned parcel from a buyer

I sold a Sat Nav on Amazon on the 13th December. I posted it out on the 15th and provided the tracking as I sent it next day delivery.

I checked the tracking next day and it said delivery could not happen as no one was in and it had been taken back to his local depot (Well not in them words but I cant remember word for word). I Thought nothing of it and with Christmas on the horizon I forgot about it.

The buyer has not emailed me once so I thought nothing of it. And Amazon have not come to me either.

Today the parcel has been returned to me as no one went to pick it up. I have emailed the seller but still had no reply.

Any advice?

Re: Returned parcel from a buyer

Keep it for 180 days or however long it takes for the buyer to make a claim then resend it, or sell it again and refund the buyer

Re: Returned parcel from a buyer

Can you get the buyers phone number from Amazon, like you can from eBay?

No. You can only email or send a letter as I have the delivery address.

Re: Returned parcel from a buyer

It's worth checking this out further but I'm pretty sure you're within your rights to ask the buyer to pay the postage costs again seeing as (according to the RM) they did not collect the item.

Re: Returned parcel from a buyer

Amazon UK undeliverable parcels :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/cust...odeId=13833761

This suggests if there is no contact from the buyer then a full refund should be made after 4 weeks (after the expected delivery date)
That would be about 17 January 2012

I presume you don't have to refund the postage ?

Under the DSR it is a full refund, so includes all costs including postage
Sadly it's just one of those business costs that need to be absorbed
However in this case it would no longer apply as the time limit has passed

Refer to the Amazon UK contract to see if there is a restocking fee
You can apply this to the refund

Also if your seller terms include a clause for failure of the buyer to take delivery then other terms may apply
For example :
the Buyer fails to take delivery of the Goods or fails to give the Seller adequate delivery instructions at the time stated for delivery
1 Store the goods and charge for storage
2 Sell the goods after deducting storage and selling costs, and refund the buyer on the balance

Re: Returned parcel from a buyer

No, the DSR says you do not have to refund costs that went to a third party and that includes the Royal mail or any company that delivered it on your behalf.
