Ebay question
Hi guys,
Not sure where to put this one, but I'm new to ebay (buying "buy it now's" only), and I have bought about 5-6 items.
Now my last item (which cost about £4.50) was not delivered today as the seller has not paid the full postage. So I am being asked to pay £2.36 (including £1 handling fee) to get the item - I am sure it is my ebay item as I have not ordered anything else.
My question is, what is the procedure to get my money back? I will definitely go and pick the item up and pay the £2.36 for it, but I want to know the procedure after that to reclaim my money.
I will take copies of my Royal Mail notice that the seller underpaid the postage fees, and any till receipt I am given, but what to do?
Thanks! (Detailed instructions would be helpful, as I am a complete "noob"!)

Thanks... I read sellers can refund if you ask them. The seller in question has feedback of about 1,800, 100% positive, I doubt he would not refund me and have me negative rep him lol

Re: Ebay question
Firstly get a receipt for the excess postage and talk to the seller, if no joy there then go through ebay's resolution centre or paypals resolution centre and show them the excess postage charge..
Most sellers will refund the difference which is a simple few clicks to part refund through paypal

Re: Ebay question
What Kymmy said. I've had a couple of transactions where things didn't go quite right and have found the seller happy to make it good. It's better than getting rubbish feedback for a small thing. I'd also recommend direct contact as a first option.

As he appears not to have picked up the item the is no way to know but most do put a return address and the staff at the Post Office always ask you to include one if you forget.

First of all speak to the seller. If you don't have their phone number then use this link to get it: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ebayadvsea...dtype=9&_rdc=1
Most good sellers will resolve it at this stage.

Re: Ebay question
Worse thing possible is to actually call them.. Send all messages through ebay that way you always have a record which ebay's resolution centre can refer to. If the seller doesn't respond back it only makes your case stronger.

I have to dissagree with you there. Rather than take the formal route (which can be seen as agressive), you should always give the seller a chance to rectify what was probably an honest mistake.
A good seller will try and rectify the problem immediately. If they don't, then that is the time to go down a more formal route.

Re: Ebay question
Heard of too many people get strung along by a seller promising action and then nothing happens all the way upto the time limit of feedback giving...
The messaging system isn't formal and is not the resolution centre, but it does provide a traceable dialogue and one more likely to prompt a seller into action without having to repeat in a message what you said originally on the phone.

That is the exact same route I have used whenever I have had an issue and it works in your favour as the seller knows you mean business by involving Ebay.

Believe me, as an ebay seller it gets your back up. If you are dealing with a large retailer, then fair enough. But many sellers on ebay work from home, and may make the occasional mistake with postage. They will be far more likely to sort things out if they receive a friendly phone call.

So you are tarnishing all ebay sellers with the same brush then?
Just give them a friendly phone call, which 99% of the time will resolve any mistakes. If it doesn't, then go formal.
Remember a friendly approach to customer service is far more likely to get results.

Re: Ebay question
So you think that an ebay message is intimidating...
Ebays own guidelines is to use their contact system when dealing with a seller as it protects all parties involved..

Re: Ebay question
Best not to phone, they can tell you anything, then deny it. Send a message using "ebay message" that way it's traceable, if you have no joy then go to the resolution centre!
