Best 'cloud' type file saving service?
Lets disregard the VM offering, because its frankly.. crap
What 'windows' options are there for cloud type file storage, enabling me to make backups of files/foldsers on my PC for disaster recovery.
(30 meg d/load cable, not sure what my upload is)

Re: Best 'cloud' type file saving service?
Hmm I looked at it but couldn't make head or tail of half of it.
Ideally I'd like to be able to simply designate folders on my hard drive, and they'll synch automatically to on-line versions, just as I do now with my removable drive, though in this case, if my house burns down or something I haven't lost all of my data.
It wouldn't be a free service I expect as I'm currently synching around 208 GB of data (office docs, photoshop files, application files, mp3's and film movies) in short everything that I would need to restore my computer in case of disaster.

getting tied of Virgins offering myself just so slow and not very user friendly.
Thinking about Mozy as a backup service

I use dropbox for ease of use - not for full DR backups, admittedly. But it would probably work well for you. for full DR backups, I use 2 external drives, both containing the same data - one static, one portable that I carry with me. too much data for cloud in my case.

Re: Best 'cloud' type file saving service?
Heh well after trying out ADrive (does 50gigs) and finding that my not so awesome 1mb upload speed making any serious uploading a bit of a joke, maybe I'd be as well to consider something that's small enough to be portable but also secure so that if I were to lose it, whoever picked it up couldn't just plug it into a pc and take all the data. Any ideas?
My 'standard backup' USB drive is a HP Pocket Media Drive device, which is fine, although perhaps a little bit larger than I'd like to fit into a pocket or similar.

Re: Best 'cloud' type file saving service?
Hmmm. 200+ Gb at 1Mb/sec. Off the top of my head I'd guess at about 60 hours to do a full backup.
A USB drive stored at work or at a relatives house might be a LOT easier.

Re: Best 'cloud' type file saving service?
Just get a fireproof lock box for about £20 and store your important data on portable USB drives.

Re: Best 'cloud' type file saving service?
buy any usb portable drive and download TrueCrypt to protect it. It's free and probably the most secure piece of encryption software you can get.
