Very cheap hosting and web-building needed...

I'm looking for suggestions for a (preferably UK-based) hosting company which has a simple web-building feature included. I have a domain name I want to use and all I want to do is have 1 page displayed. Money is tight of course so I'm looking for something cheap and cheerful and preferably without built-in ads or whatever.

Do you get any free hosting with your ISP? If so use that for a simple page and just point the domain at that hosting site.

Russ when you say a single webpage will it be full of large pictures/video or other high bandwidth stuff?? And will you be looking at expanding it in the future?

The ISP thing isn't an option as it need to have web-building software or a template, that sort of thing. I know nothing about web design and have no desire to learn. Whatever option I go for the site will be basic. Not 1990s-internet type basic but certainly not slick multi-media etc. I'd be unlikely to expand it as the site will just be a point of reference for people.

The kind of thing I'm after is a bit like what Blogger offer - they have templates which whilst basic can look professional enough. Space for one or two pictures maybe.

You could always just set up a blog on one of the many blogging sites and point your domain name towards it..

Apart from that a WYSIWYG editor is basically the same as what the sites use (though couldn't suggest what's best these days) and with that you could use any cheap hosting (even your ISPs)

As for cheap hosting elsewhere they're a ten a penny (ranging from free to £2 a month) and it's impossible to say which is best or which will even be around in a years time. 1and1 do a cheap £2.50 package with a site builder but also the capability to take it more advanced in the future but I believe they ask for you to pay in 3 month billing cycles

Thing is I don't want it looking like a blogging site, this is why I won't use Blogger. I've looked at Wordpress but they want a fee to set up mapping etc and I don't want that when there are companies which will charge less than £5 per month for basic hosting and will include web-building. I like the sound of 1and1 (I've used them before) but I prefer a monthly cycle.

Not UK based, but you could try Office 365 (£4/month) or the free version of Google Apps. Both offer web hosting with a WYSIWYG designer. Plus you get branded email and a few other bits and pieces with them both.

Maybe consider Google Sites?
Free, templates go from very basic to more advanced, point a domain to it etc.
