Websites - watch those typos

A simple spelling error might make all the difference in sales. The credibility of a site is judged by it's accuracy. Apparently it takes about 6 seconds to capture a visitors attention to a website. "when a consumer might be wary of spam or phishing efforts, a misspelt word could be a killer issue"

It's worth noting that search engines can only index the text on the page. Mistakes won't necessarily be replicated by those who do a search, thus you might not even get the web hits you expect.

So rush out and invest in that spell checker, and get a good proof reader

I'm seeing more and more these days, that there's spelling errors on a lot of things you never used to see, things like business cards, menu's, price lists etc. I put it down to people having a printer and copy of Office, rather than using a dedicated printers services as would have happened before.

Makes me cringe though, when people are touting for your business or custom, and can't even spell properly, not very professional.

I completely agree. You can see the results of poor learning of English all over the place now that anyone can publish their work without it being checked.

(If the paragraphs above had gone through an experienced secretary, "there's" would be "there're" or "there are", "menu's" would be "menus". )
