Windows 7 64bit and Chrome Browser
Firstly apologies if this has been posted already, if it has I can't find it...
I'm looking to replace my ageing Acer laptop and it seems that most new laptops are shipped with 64bit architecture.
My favorite browser is Chrome and my question is does it work ok on Windows 7 64bit?
I have done some 'googling' and there doesn't seem to be a clear answer.
Any opinions or advice appreciated - thanks.

Re: Windows 7 64bit and Chrome Browser
I can confirm it runs sweet as on Windows 7 64bit with no issues at all.

Re: Windows 7 64bit and Chrome Browser
Most things will run on 64bit windows without complaint, the significant exception being old hardware drivers.

Re: Windows 7 64bit and Chrome Browser
Agree with above. 64bit Windows 7 works a treat with just about everything apart from some old hardware, that's a problem with any 64bit OS though.
Make sure you don't use 64bit Internet Explorer, no add ins like flash are available for 64 bit browsers so many websites will not work correctly.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm assuming then that addins for Chrome probably won't work either then.

The only chrome out is 32 bit which will run with 32 bit addons fine.

99% of add ins are now available for internet explorer 64 bit. currently running Flash 10.3 on ie9 x64 and it works fine and considerably quicker than ie9 32 bit.

Would point out if you are running Flash 10.3 then you are running it in IE9 32 bit, even if you are on W7 64
Only 64 bit version is Flash 'Square'

Re: Windows 7 64bit and Chrome Browser
You are correct with the filename Ben but it installs as the version number in the image added above
The current 32bit version is: 10.3.181.23

Ok but if you right click and select 'Global Settings' it goes to a webpage and not a native Control Panel seems to indicate it's not 10.3
---------- Post added at 21:14 ---------- Previous post was at 21:11 ----------
Course the other issue is that you can't make IE9 64bit the default browser

Re: Windows 7 64bit and Chrome Browser
After fiddling around for a while, I do have x64 ie running as default but you are correct Ben.
It is possible to do it via registry edits but to the average user, IE x64 cannot be set as default browser
