Facebook Usernames
hi my facebook has got a username in the url for my profile but ive never set it and the username has northing to do with me or my name.
is there anyway to get rid of it?

You can change it:
Account > Account Settings > Username (Change)

How was it before? I'm guessing it was just some random string which didn't contain your name or anything?
If that's the case just generate a random / meaningless string.
Here's one: 4Dz5q75W
Not sure you can simply have nothing, there has to be a way for Facebook to differentiate you and the URL for your profile.

hi yer it was just like when you 1st get facebook like
facebook.com/profile.php?id=0123456789
my facebook profile number still works but then it changes to the username
like facebook.com/soandso

FB Usernames have TWO uses.
1 = "vanity URL"
2 = External program support - accessing chat using jabber protocol requires a username
Is it possible that some external program changed it, not sure if that's possible.
