Exclamation Scam email doing the rounds

Evening ladies and gents,

Looking through my emails this evening, I noticed this little gem pop up in my Gmail inbox

Quote:
Dear,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Marc Bender and I represent Throne LLC Company.

I've found your resume on-line and it appears that you have met our basic requirements for initial consideration, and would be a strong candidate to offer our final career positions.

Our company is well-known not only in the UK but all over the world. We deal mainly with the international Art market, bringing buyers together with sellers from all over the world.

Two to three hours a day performing your duties over the Internet is sufficient for this position.
There are no start-up or any other fees. The company covers all the fees related to the hiring process.

We provide one month paid training period, during which you will receive online training and support as well as a regular paycheck. A personal supervisor will guide your training. At the end of your training, the personal supervisor will decide whether or not to extend a permanent offer, based on your training results. So please be aware that our training is critical to your success!

Your starting salary will be 1500 GBP per month plus 8% commission deducted from each and every transaction during the training period. Total income, with our current volume of clients, will be about 3000 GBP per month. After the training period, base salary will be increased up to 1800 GBP per month plus 8% commission.

Given the present economy, our position offers training, support and a pay scale comparable to an entry-level position requiring 40 hours per week. I hope you will explore, compare, and then contact me with your questions.

Yours faithfully,

Marc Bender
Throne LLC Inc.
This leads me to believe that it is bogus because when I put the company name into Google, I got this as the first search result: http://scamfraudalert.wordpress.com/...e-groupllc-cc/

So the questions I have is:

1) Where did he get my CV, email address and name from?
2) How does he know I am looking for a job?
3) Does this now put me in any danger with regards to Identity fraud?

Answers on a postcard if you would please

Re: Scam email doing the rounds

I don't know where they got your name and email from, but it seems like a scam, and it also seems like you'll end up laundering money. After all, they are apparently willing to offer over £18,000 a year to a trainee in a part time job. Rising to £36,000 after 1 month.

If they can afford that kind of cash, they can afford to

a) advertised jobs through legitimate channels and
b) pay someone to design a proper website so that when you search for their name, Google returns their actual website first rather than a page of sites saying that they are a scam.

They will also have a system in place where they can deal with large amounts of cash without having to pay people £1800 a month + commission to pass it through their bank accounts. A system that would probably cost a lot less than the current one of paying random people £1800 a month.

Good luck in your jobsearch, but I'd recommend avoiding this like the plague. If they are legit, they wouldn't be offering so much. They may be dealing with Art, but I suspect it's nicked.

thought it was a scam, I'll avoid it like the plague as you say, and I have only been searching through proper websites. Job Centre Plus, Monster, Reed.co.uk, totaljobs.com, jobsite etc

It sounds too good to be true, therefore it usually is too good to be true!

No one will pay you £750 per hour!

Re: Scam email doing the rounds

Anybody who's fooled into parting with personal information and/or cash in response to any unsolicited approach needs their brain testing. These scams tend to rely on things such as desperation, greed and/or vanity on the part of the recipient and if everyone who ever received such an approach (whether by e.mail, phone or post) simply ignored it, we'd all be better off. When it comes to CVs, in my considerable experience, people are far too blase about what they send and to whom but they do say fools and their cash are easily parted don't they....

Unless you're a consultant with a relative on the local Council..

But seriously, these people send out tens of thousands of these scam emails in the hope that they'll strike lucky with a few hits. They probably bought your details on a list from another lowlife that specialises in scraping data from employment websites and anywhere else that offers any personal info. It's highly unlikely that you'll be a target for identity theft unless you respond and offer further information so they know you're a live 'mark'.
