Ahhhh!

Quote:
The BBC says it will have fewer News blogs, focussing more on those by editors such as Robert Peston on business. Yet it also says it won't offer "specialist news content for specialist audiences" (isn't that what Robert does?) And which of those 400 top domains will users miss? Not bbc.co.uk/littledorrit perhaps. But what about bbc.co.uk/h2g2, which is due for "disposal"?
Well after the recent refurb of H2G2 I'm deeply deeply gobsmacked.

I read about the 200 websites they are shutting down, i wanted to know what the hell are their 400 websites they currently have? unless they class every section of the bbc website as a separate site

An anonymous BitTorrent user has archived the BBC websites which are facing the axe...

Re: BBC to close 606 forums amongst other sites

Reading the comments to that article makes me wonder at the IQ of some Torrent users...

As to the one site I'm a member of (H2G2) it is going to be 'sold' on as a deference to Douglas Adams who persuaded the BBC to give us a home 10 years ago when our previous home was deemed to expensive to run the site.

Personally I can't think of any online company or organisation other than the Beeb could/would take us on we are such a weird site.

Depending on the size / bandwidth requirements I have hosting space available.

To be honest I can't even guess how many members we have or how large the site and archive actually is.The search function frequently fails to find archived stuff especially after 10 years..They never delete anything and they have only banned 3 people in all that time..

Re: BBC to close 606 forums amongst other sites

Sounds like interhell, starting with the ntlhell days, then onto the cablehell days and now the interhell days, 34000+ members and 9 years of accumulated posts and attachments (Which we have never managed to misplace *ahem*) and we're around the 2Gb mark. Less than 1/5 of the space we have available on the host we have so it shouldn't be a problem should h2g2 need a home. The offer is there anyway.

Yes good for the forum in my sig that's for sure, over 2500 posts and 1200 members in less than 2 weeks, the only thing that's missing is a few familiar faces from this site...
