An ISP that wants its users to use bandwidth

Sadly not in the UK so not posted in alternative ISPs

http://www.hkbn.net/2010/eng/en_serv...2.html?popup=1

Speed guarantee - 80% of performance on all services on-net up to 200Mbps or double your money back and information on how loaded the different parts of the network are.

Their CEO actually wants people to use high bandwidth services - he's in the business of selling bandwidth. He describes it as boring but profitable!

They are doing extremely well for themselves.

Won't happen here as the economics are somewhat different but it's refreshing to see an ISP that doesn't want to pimp phone lines, video, value added services unless you want them, don't shape or cap, they just offer the fastest connections in their area at competitive prices and love Google, Netflix etc as they supply the services that help them sell bandwidth.

Re: An ISP that wants its users to use bandwidth

That's what happens when a country has actually got a fibre backbone that was built for a reason. They have put themselves in a situation where they can get everyone online at a good speed without the need to worry about the money they have put into the infrastructure. never likely to happen over here as our wonderful government has repeated refused to properly invest in anything likely to actually prove useful.

It's Hong Kong so the economics are quite different, high population density, etc.

It does show how our ISPs could do things better though, ignoring the 1Gbps for less than £20
