Firefox and plugins

I have recently noticed my laptop fan is on most of the time browsing the web.

I use "Statbar" to show things like network activity, CPU use, RAM etc etc....

Sometimes my CPU useage is at 100% which surprised me as I have a dual core 2.1GHz CPU & 4GB RAM on Win7.

Running the task manager and Adobe plugin is using 80% CPU time to what I assume is to play animations on any web site I visit. www.tvguide.co.uk seems to be the worst culprit. This site despite the odd animation is fine with the CPU running about 7-15% usage.

Is there anything I can do to stop this happening. If I disable it as a process, it's back again as soon as I reload a page. I don't mind the animations, but this is really CPU hogging is really annoying at it slows browsing down.

I have run malawarebytes and nothing is showing up.

Any help appreciated.
