Facebook Suspicious Access!

So i just tried to logon facebook and when i did it came up "suspicious account access" i confirmed my identity (took me a long time!), and at the end it said someone from Dubai! tried to access my account either from a mobile device or computer.

Im worried now because the password i use for facebook is the same one i use for everything else! ALSO my password is long and full of numbers and letters, how would anyone find that out?!

Re: Facebook Suspicious Access!

It said they tried to, not that they did get into your account, your password might not be compromised if in doubt though change it, in fact it might even be an in built function that trips when some thing unusual happens, don't use Facebook myself but I am sure some one will give you a definitive answer soon.

Re: Facebook Suspicious Access!

Have you tried to log on from work or somewhere different than normal? either way facebook blocked it so that's a good thing.

Tis very very unlikey someone knows or has guessed your password, but it's a real bad idea having the same password for everything, couldn't you at least use the same word or phrase but then put 1, 2,3,4 etc at the end for the places you use it.

That way, you stay safe, you have a password you wont forget as all you need to remember is the number at the end, you could even write them down.

And as you wont of wrote down the main word then it's not too bad if someone happens to see the list.

Re: Facebook Suspicious Access!

Happened to me a few weeks ago. WhenI eventually got back in I changed the password. I say eventually because it took me 2 days. Their process for confirming the account is yours is a bit hit and miss.
They put up 7 of your friends names and random photos from their accounts, youve got to match 5 of them. You only get 3 goes then you have to wait.

Re: Facebook Suspicious Access!

There is a setting on facebook which I quite like.
When you log in you specify the name of your computer.
So I always enter a certain computer name.
Whilst it doesnt stop anyone logging in it sends me an email when a different computer name is specified so I immediatly know if someone else accesses my account.
Not foolproof by any stretch but just another layer...
