Re: Domain name hyphens?
Unique but totally irelevant didn't do google any harm.
Depending on the subject maybe something that sticks in the mind is almost better than focusing on relevant.

Re: Domain name hyphens?
No to hyphens. You want people to be able to say or type it easily. Worry is that they'll miss the all important bit!

Great if you have millions to spend on brand marketing. I may be wrong, but I don't think Kymmy is a rich multinational corporation.

Re: Domain name hyphens?
A big no to hyphens in a domain name. They look silly and are a pain. The company I work for was a -ltd.co.uk wich was a pita - now our primary is a xxxxxxxx.eu

Re: Domain name hyphens?
Weird really as where I live is actually a hyphenated name, yet my partner bought a domain name for it that isn't hyphenated..

Re: Domain name hyphens?
Now I've got it sorted I can give more info...
I was hoping to get a domain name something similar to "Where in the world" (as you all know I started the Where in the UK thread on here which followed on from a Where in the World thread elsewhere and also last years CF christmas competition) as I wanted to take the game to it's own website.
Well all forms of where in the world, where on the planet..and hundreds of other domain names where all gone in dotCOM format with a few examples left over if I was willing to use one or more hyphens, hence my reason for this thread. Anyway after much deliberation I settled for GEOIES.COM (I know it's a silly name but I'm sure everyone said that about Google.com to start off with ) The site's just gone live for registrations so there's not a lot on there atm.. but I have big hopes for it.
ThanX guys for the answers.. It really did confirm that a short name without a hyphen is always the way to go.

Re: Domain name hyphens?
Personally I don't like them, but it wouldn't stop me finding or visiting a site. I just think that it seems easier to remember an address without hyphens if your not sure of an address and you are getting to remember it off the top of your head or on a different computer.
