Firefox getting slow ,other options.

Firefox is getting slower for me ,I have done checks for malware and viruses and shows clean.I have looked online for answers and there are some but dont feel to sure about doing them .If anyone has any suggestions on how to speed it up or another browser to use ,I would be happy to give them a try .
Thanks

Firefox has never really been a problem for me, but you could give Opera a go?

Re: Firefox getting slow ,other options.

I think we will need a bit more info
slow to load? slow to download? slow to update?
what?
slower than it was?
operating system?
tried internet explorer? (No, forget that )
googled for browsers?
what answers don't you feel up to trying?

Re: Firefox getting slow ,other options.

@Quam256
If you have lots of tabs open then Firefox will take ages to load.
I had this problem.
There's an addon called BarTab. From here:-https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/67651/
With this, when you run Firefox, all the tabs are there from last time but they only load when you say so.

Also Firefox 4 beta is much quicker (imho).
That's another option.

Re: Firefox getting slow ,other options.

Yes, but doesn't touch the places database, does it? That's an easy way for the browser to slow down, especially whilst interacting with it. It's the same principle as defragmenting your hard drive. Firefox is usually fast enough on the defaults

I just find it quite fun to to play around internally with the browser and it has no effect on the other settings.

Re: Firefox getting slow ,other options.

Found the answer in the end.
I had upgraded my Tomato software on my router about the same time the problems started.
Downgraded to the earlier version and all is working ok.
Still like the look of Opera and will be using it.
Thanks all.
